My name is Phoenix and I'm a grateful recovering alcoholic, addict as well as being dual-diagnosed with a laundry list of mental illnesses since November 5, 2019. A few being Bipolar 1 w/suicidal tendencies, Complex PTSD, Borderline Personality Disorder, Suicidal Ideations, Major Depressive Disorder, general & social anxiety, and panic disorder.
I have a passion for helping others find their inner fire. Recovery is not easy and definitely is not a one-size-fits-all. Mine sure wasn't! After working the 12-steps and intense therapy, I had found inner peace, joy, happiness and a desire to live that I never knew was possible. Now, instead of taking a ton of psychiatric medications, I am now able to manage my mental health with two medications as well as no longer picking up a drink or a drug.
I was born in 1980 and grew up with my mom and my biological father until I was 5. My mom came from a very abusive childhood so when she found out she was pregnant with me, she chose to marry my biological father. When her father died, she decided to divorce my bio dad and shortly after, she married my dad (stepdad), who then raised me for the remainder of my childhood. My dad, uncle, and grandfather were all in law enforcement so I was brought up to be seen and not heard. My outlet was on the softball field. I played competitive travel softball and we made it to the junior Olympics. During high school, I was sexually assaulted and life became chaotic for me. I graduated high school, barely, and ended up getting pregnant a couple months after graduation. Within a year of graduating, I was pregnant, married and living the military life. My then husband went from the military to also join the same law enforcement agency that my family served. 9/11 happened and everyone survived the attacks. My mom passed suddenly in 2003 and my life got even more chaotic. From here, drugs and alcohol entered the picture and eventually ended up divorced and no longer a part of my sons' life. It took me another 9 years to get my life together and choose recovery in order for me to get my life back.
I received my Peer Support Certification in 2021 and have worked in the Mental Health and Addiction field as a Recovery Coach.
